Tennis Cup 2 is a great follow-up to Loriciel's 1990 game, Tennis Cup released for the Amiga, Atari ST, DOS, Amstrad CPC+ and Amstrad GX4000. Tennis Cup 2 is not the kind of tennis game to pick up and play with ease, but its nice visuals and split-screen gameplay were the assets for its success.

Review
Tennis Cup 2STORY / GAMEPLAY
Tennis Cup 2 is a tennis game so your main goal is to win! The gameplay has been nicely improved over its predecessor (Tennis Cup), so now the player can perform cool strikes more often from the baseline than just from the net. The game's options and visuals are quite similar to TC 1, with a few more additional animations. Much like in Tennis Cup 1, split-screen gameplay is addictive and offers amusing action (as most 2p Vs games do). In short, Tennis Cup 2 is another great work by Loriciel's lead designer Dominique Sablons, with smooth gameplay and fun, eliminating many of the weak points the earlier game had and improving a bit on the strong points.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The CPC+ version features nicely looking visuals, detailed tennis courts, vivid colors and smooth sprite animations. Even the split-screen is glitch free and stable. The ball movement is also good and the depth perspective reasonable, yet not perfect.
The game's sound is good, featuring a nice introductory tune and the usual tennis whacks and swings as well as a crowd cheering sound effect when points are scored.
